My only advice is to have friends on standby.

Early season I always try to make sure I have 1-2 friends who can help.

My butcher has a 24 hr drop off cooler . Makes life better lol

Good shots, fast recovery, and fast cool down are your goals.

I prefer frozen milk jugs to bags of ice as they melt slower, contain the water, and they are free. Plus they buy you time if your freezer goes out.

Putting them in the chest cavity doesn’t do as much most think. Remember that the biggest meat mass is in the hams. I always put a bag of ice (if on the road) or a 1/2 gallon jug of frozen water between the legs right up tight to the top.

I have kept many overnight with a gallon jug of ice in the chest, 1/2 gallon jug between the hams and a couple along the back rolled up in a tarp. Put the deer burrito in the garage away from the sun if you have windows and it will last a good long time that way. I have gone 24 hours.

In hot weather I only take super easy shots, and get things taken care of as quickly as possible. I can't remember ever losing any meat due to heat.
