Not sure when I'll decide to draw since I started hunting in the west yearly, but I'm going to draw zone 9. Been tossing in spring scouting trips, will have my 3rd this spring.

Have 4 points, and am planning on hunting Zone 9. I've been putting it off for a while, but I think 2020 is the year. I've done quite a bit of scouting in the past and tbh, I'm not overly impressed with the public land in Zone 9. Some big chunks but a lot of overly mature timber.

Anyone hunt Zone 10 in the past?

I’ve looked at some of the public since it’s a straight shot south of me. ...doesn’t look great or abundant, but decent draw odds.

My cousin and are sitting on four points and we’re planning for 2021. We’re looking at 4 and 6.

Better hope it rains or it wont be very good. Really dry hear and the mig stomped us last year. If its dry again it will be a real bad deal!!

I think I am going to have a good shot at Zone 4 next year (2021). If I end up getting to hunt north central MO this fall I will be able to pre-scout the areas that I am interested if I can tag in MO early otherwise it may be a scout, scout, hunt trip in fall 2021!

Off topic a little, but does anyone know right off if you are able to use a crossbow in Iowa? I’m thinking of buying a point for my dad, but he’s down to only being able to shoot a crossbow.

I don’t think he will go for that even though im pretty sure he could get one. We can stick with the other states for now.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I applied this year and paid the $660 with 3 points. Theres a 4% chance and at worse I get $600 refunded with a preference point added going into 2021. I plan on hunting zone 5

Update; I didn't get drawed for 2020 and have 4 point going in this season. Zone 5 anyone hunting zone 5 public want to meet up for 2021 message me or respond on here. More boots on the ground together equals faster success.

I decided to hold off last season because of COVID and not knowing what was happening. I have 4 points now and will try to draw. I'm not entirely sure where yet.

I have to hold off one more year to have my kids be a little bit older and therefore easier for my wife to be on here own with so i can have a longer trip. 2022 it will be fore me.

I plan to apply for a southern zone this year with four points. I'm definitely curious to see if it lives up to the hype compared to public on neighboring states.
Anything worth doing, is worth over doing.
