Alfalfa/clover fields late season?

I was wondering if anyone had some insight on alfalfa/clover fields in the late season? The type I am referring to is the agriculture type for cattle and livestock. Does clover loose its attractiveness after a frost or will they continue to eat into the ground?

The neighbor has an alfalfa field in front of our house. He last cut it for rolls of hay in late October. There has been a doe group grazing in it since, I see them 2-3 mornings a week. This is our first year here, but it must be regularly used, as a deer crossing sign sits right in front of the field. This is southern Kentucky.

Depends on where you are north to south. I've seen deer paw through snow to get at "hay" in crop fields, though. Also dug through snow to find the alfalfa browned up under it. May depend on whether it frosted hard before or after the snow fell, and stayed. For most any plant, especially in winter. If it's green, it's a potential food source!

I have hunted around clover and the deer will definitely eat it.
The problem with it is it doesn’t grow much when it’s cold so even though it’s there over the winter it doesn’t provide much food in late season.
I don’t have any experience with alfalfa.
