Buck of a lifetime MOUNT ideas

Unread postby Camoface13 » Sat Dec 14, 2019 2:17 pm

Hey guys, I was blessed with a buck of a lifetime for our area of Michigan. I’m looking for ideas on mount poses and any extra ideas for special requests to make this special animal’s memories last forever. 165” 16pt with a large kicker off his left side, several small stickers on his left base and a kicker off the back of his right brow and another sticker on his right base. Any thoughts?

Consider a wall pedestal or a stand alone floor pedestal. With the floor pedestals your options are endless! Time to start dreaming and with the help of your taxidermist ideas will start to pop up.

I’d do pedestal with a base, that way it can go on the wall later if need be but still unique

Anyone have pictures of their wall pedestals? A swinging bracket on it might be neat

I’m sure you know this but get references and look at prior finished products from the taxi you go with. MI has a ton of guys who do the work and I have seen a few mounts that didn’t quite pass the quality mark

Any good taxidermist should have pictures of unique mounts he’s done in the past that can give you ideas. Most Taxidermist are pretty artistic I’m sure they can lead you into making a good choice, that’s their job. I’d reach out to your taxidermist and talk to him about it.

I certainly hope I haven’t killed my once in a lifetime buck yet. But on some of my more special mounts I try to capture a pose the animal was doing when I turned his lights out. Have one that was working a licking branch and another one I mounted to match a trail cam pic I had. I just like something that makes me remember the chase on those special ones. Can’t go wrong with whatever u do.Great buck, congrats

I decided to try the wall pedestal on this guy with a right turn. It will show all of his right side points besides the kicker off the back brow, and highlight his crazy left side kicker. Not sure if it’s industry standard but he only can get the wall pedestal in a semi upright so that’s what I’ll go with. Thanks for all the input guys I can’t wait to see him on the wall. This taxi does great work just a little slow

I ended up going with an offset full sneak left turn for mine this year.
