Dating the fat girl dilemma
So here’s the situation. I’m in the north woods of wisconsin, the rut is ramping up here. About 5 days ago a found a good buck track in the snow that ran the gravel road the whole length of a clear cut. The clear cut is on the south side of the road and it was a southwest wind that day so my guess is he was checking for hot does. Keep in mind this is a somewhat busy access road but not so much middle of the week. Weatherman is calling for a south wind tomorrow. Am I crazy setting up literally on the road? I just don’t know if a mature buck would attempt that in daylight.

I’d say it was more than likely at night but rut travel will make them do some crazy stuff. Maybe just hunt the downwind side of the clear cut anticipating doe bedding in the cut. Then again you might kill a booner standing in the road.
As for the fat girl...don’t hesitate

The road is the downwind side of the cut, which is why I’m torn cause I saw a dandy this afternoon on the downwind of a different cut.

I gotcha well maybe in the daylight instead of walking the road he may be 20 yards into the cut still scent checking the downwind side. I’ve always had luck getting high in a tree on the edge of a cut where you can see into it. That just depends on how old the cut is though.

I'd give it a sit in the morning. The fat girl usually doesn't disappoint.
On my deathbed, I will receive total consciousness. So I have that going for me, which is nice!

Do you have any better leads for that wind? If not, what do you have to lose?
