Stand placement on new property

Unread postby Daredwar » Tue Nov 12, 2019 5:59 am

First year on this property. Any areas stand out? I usually stick to the ridges but wanted other opinions on pinch points, funnels, bottom hubs. Everything in red is open for me to hunt.

Get Dan's Hill country DVD.

The beds will be on or near the points & nobs.

Also get the book "Mapping Trophy Bucks"by Brad Herndon. Has really good diagrams that help visualize where you're hunting. Kind of like this.....

I'll definitely check out that book. Im assuming that is an evening setup in the picture.

I'm thinking it might be a morning hunt setup. From what I've heard is the evening thermals pull your scent downwards so you want to be at a lower elevation than the deer trail. But I could be wrong. This particular diagram was for a funnel type scenerio I believe.

Possibly. I viewed it as the pasture being on the bottom.

Gotcha. If you look at the topo lines it has the middle as 650 and the outside as 750. When do you plan on going to hunt it?
