Importance of a cold front

Unread postby austin1990 » Thu Oct 31, 2019 1:35 am

What are some good ways to Express the importance of a cold front to a non hunting boss? I'm trying to talk mine into letting me have Friday off, we've got rain today and in the 50s, tomorrow rain and highs in the 40s. Friday clear and highs in the 40s and low around 29. If it ain't football or golf he doesnt care, been trying to compare it to the NFL playoffs and maybe making some headway...

I have an extremely flexible job so I'll be out Friday. But if I didn't I would probably go dead aunt, maybe flu or headache if I used up a reasonable supply of aunts.

I think the NFL playoff comparison is valid. Make sure to throw in that it is like having tickets for a playoff game. But also make sure to let him know that the next few weeks are comparable to the super bowl.

Compare the next couple of weeks to being on the green with "insert his favorite pro golfer" during the entire Ryder Cup.

Or just play sick. Terrible flu going around I hear. Can take a couple of weeks to recover from....

Gotta make hay when the sun shines. Hunt deer when season is open. Kill bucks when they're more stupid and rut crazed.

I wish my boss didn’t hunt. Have any idea how hard it is to get vacation when your boss, his boss, and the Vice President all take off for the rut? Not to mention another 2 dozen guys in the office? I think we have 3 guys out of 30 who don’t hunt in some capacity.

And I’m the newest guy. Take one for the team, fake an injury, and when you shoot a slob, tell no one. What they don’t know, won’t get you fired.

Well I struck out. He told me I might could leave early though so theres that. I've already got the 9th-17th scheduled off on vacation so I should still get plenty of woods time. The first 5 days of that vacation I have a gun permit for a wma but not sure I'm gonna be able to hunt it any this year. I've yet to do any scouting other than aerial and it being an hour and 15 minute drive and two kids under 2 I probably will hold off and just stick to the farm that whole week. Now to work on getting the whole week of thanksgiving off....

Oh I'll also add that he asked me how I was still hunting this season, he thought I already killed a deer. In which I did, a really big buck but we get 2 buck tags and 6 doe tags for a reason. He thought one deer should be plenty of meat til next season

Your boss sounds like a .....

Honestly it's so difficult to hire someone around here we let people get away with a ridiculous amount of stuff. We keep people with attendance issues, failed drug tests, poor job performance.... it takes a lot to get fired.

They bend over backwards to accommodate the "schedules" of good employees. Guess I'm lucky.

Yeah days like tomorrow you dont want to miss. Good timing, great weather, big cold front, I will even throw in the good moon phase. It's a good day to shoot a buck!

My old job had a lot of bow hunters and because of minimums it was tougher to get off, not really any bow hunters where I work now, free reign of oct, nov, and December for the picking now!
