Ohio Rut Report

Unread postby mfran615 » Wed Oct 02, 2019 7:04 am

I know this is way early, but I'm starting a thread for us Ohio hunters. Figured it would be nice to have a place we can all talk about what we're seeing out there as we approach the rut.

Anyone seeing much yet? I haven't been able to get out but 3 times since the season opened but I will start having significant time in the woods this coming weekend. I friend not far from the PA border has seen a little chasing already.

my last hunt in Ohio was last weekend. That said, things were just and I mean just starting to tick up. few scrapes, few fresh rubs. I think by the end of this week things will begin heating up as the day temps start hitting consistently cool days coupled with small fronts.

I agree. Starting to open up the scrape they were using last year and rubs starting to pop up more.

Rubs are starting to pop up more and scrapes beginning to appear. Should start getting good soon.

I saw a 1.5 yo. cross the road mid day today and I got a 3.5 yo. on camera mid morning near a field edge.
It looks like bucks are starting to get antsy.

I saw a 2.5yo chasing does in a field near the road while driving last night. It’s definitely on their mind right now.

I am seeing more scrapes.
I got pictures of 3 bucks on my last card pull that haven’t been on the cameras this year.
Looks like pre rut is ramping up.

Things are starting to get good, that’s for sure. Lots of bucks being killed trailing does. Time to get in the woods.

Saw quite a few fresh scrapes pop up over the weekend. Trail cams showing more buck movement as well.
