I have a spot that I believe to be a kill spot 70 yards from a bedding area . The issue I must pass a primary scrape 130 yards from bedding to get to it .
I'm thinking i can sit over the scrape then backout carefully.
Its basically a boot shaped point. With a bowl and steep hillside where the ankle connects to the leg.
The scrape is positioned at that turn.
Do you guys think I can get away with a double sit here?
My wind should blow into that bowl.
From my experience last year I hunted close to it but the buck continued to use the same bed.
You probably remember this spot from my journal the one I had a buck pass just out of range last October.
What would you guys do should I hunt it or wait?
The leaves are super dry no way I can get to the kill spot.
Hunting close?

Re: Hunting close?
Think I should make the wise choice and wait till perfect conditions.
Being 98 degrees I think water may be the smartest play. And leave that spot till a cool day.
I struggle still alot on what to hunt when.

Re: Hunting close?
Sounds like the water will be better with the heat.
Crunchy leaves are horrible if it is real windy.
Play it safe but it does sound like a 2 sitter to me, maybe 3 sits if you go back during the rut.

Re: Hunting close?
Sounds like you have a good plan.
IMO with better weather they are likely to move farther in daylight. If it’s hot closer to bedding is better.

Re: Hunting close?
I decided to hunt a funnel near water about 100 yards north of the boot along a clearcut edge.
Bucks definitely moving around in bedding area.
Hope they exit this way.
Wind keeps switching from south to southwest. Thermal is blowing east. Think I'm setup quite well. Entry was northeast
My darn bow attached to my pull up rope clanked on my stick.
Beautiful day just hot.
In pines not oaks. Oaks are up on the point.
22 feet up with just feet on sticks.
