Climbing with 2 sticks

Unread postby calgould12 » Sat Sep 21, 2019 5:58 am

Anyone out there using only two sticks in there hang n hunt setup? Just bought two of the full length LW sticks and built a two step aider for the bottom getting me about 9 feet (I'm 6'1") with the first stick, haven't had a chance to get out and use the other stick and stand yet and just wondering if anyone else has gone the two stick approach as well.

I've got the Muddy Pro sticks and was thinking about making aiders like DIY Sportsman so I can carry just two. I've got a saddle on the way and only carrying two sticks would be pretty sweet. I've been using a Muddy Bloodsport and carrying all four sticks so it'll be like carrying a bag of feathers compared to that.

You could make aiders just in case you wanted to get a little higher. Basically no extra weight and still have the capability.

I use 3 and I get about 10 feet off the ground.

This is my first year using sticks and a hang on.

I've been looking to buy a single Muddy Pro stick for 1 stick climbing, so if you do that and like it and no longer need all of yours, then hit me up.

I use 3 cut down Heliums with aiders and get about 17' with 3 and my platform. Two sticks can work, but you'll be fairly low or you'll fight with multistep aiders.

Man, I will sure keep you in mind. My "plan" is to make a couple of sets so I'll have a set and my son or daughter will have a set for them when they get a little bigger.

I hunted with two sticks for many years and killed a bunch of deer! I was using the first run of LW sticks and when they made a better design where they would stack I bought them and to this day I only use three full length sticks.

Been running 3 beast sticks with aiders, can get 6+ feet per stick and probably just over 20 to the base of the stand if I stretch them out and have a bit of step up on my last stick. Really like this setup, might get a 4th stick someday if I need to get really high but haven't needed it yet.

I use 2 muddy sticks and a 2 step aider plus carry 4 screw in pegs. I use a stick plus 2 pegs for a platform with saddle then have 2 extra pegs if I need them.
Some do. Some don't. I just might...

I'm running two full size sticks. Bottom has 2 step aider and second has one.

My early training and hunting was using the '1 stick method' to become comfortable with my rock harness and hang on system. That ends up being too slow and noisy to be worthwhile. Going to 2 has worked since the rock harness allows repositioning up to any height I need. If I end up buying Beast sticks I can carry 3 or 4 with no weight penalty . I would like that.

I usually use three sticks. I have had sits with 2 sticks when hunting in young timber. Dont have to go sky high all the time.
