Broadhead choice
I wanted to switch back to fixed blades this year. I have shot rage 2 blades for a few years and have grown tired of having to keep fixing the plastic collar that holds the blades when crawling through grass and brush. Also have seen some penetration issues on some shots from the guys in my hunting group. Anyway I'm testing some slick tricks and like them so far. What's everyone using this year. Which way do most the "Beasts" lean fixed blade or expanable?
It only takes 15 seconds for the hunt of a lifetime.

Re: Broadhead choice
There are so many good heads out there, its hard to narrow one down, for all the different types of bow hunters. With that said, I have used for a replaceable blade the Wasp 125 grain SST, and the Ram Cats 125, all with excellent results. The Ram Cat is more quiver specific because of its design.
I have shot deer with the Slick Tricks they are tried and true.... However I am always going back to my number one head which is a Zwickey Eskimo 2blade, with bleeders. but I am a little of old school
The reason most have some issues with the mechanicals, is because in my opinion, they shoot to light of an arrow. I have seen some mechs that are excellent, I however do not shoot a bow, with a lot of weight behind it or speed.

Re: Broadhead choice
I just posted the broadhead test by the born and raised guys. I am using the Valkyrie fixed shortjags 180gr. Used rage for years.

The Magnus stuff is always good and easily accessible. If you don’t mind sharpening, I love the Strickland Helix. The are nasty on game. VPA has good stuff too, just gotta get the edges hunting sharp. Not too tough though.

Their test was awesome. QAD Exodus is my favorite whitetail, fixed blade head. Have two of them in my quiver for ground situations.

Re: Broadhead choice
I used the Wasp Drones last year and loved them. Affordable, durable and accurate. Flew with my field points. If you are more interested in a 4 blade Wasp also has a broad head called the Dart. I may pick a pack of them up this year.

Re: Broadhead choice
QAD Exodus Swept is what I'm shooting this year. First year shooting a fixed blade, did the research and I came up with the QAD being the best. Did a review on them, and have since shot them out to 65yds and so far so good.

QAD Exodus for me. They come VERY sharp out of the box and have worked great the couple deer I have killed with them so far.

Re: Broadhead choice
I've always used the old standard Muzzy 3 blade and Magnus Buzz cutts. Both are really good, proven broad heads.
I always think I am going to switch from Muzzy, then I catch them on sale at Wal-Mart on clearance sale, and end up buying a bunch of them again.

I have the Stinger Buzz Cuts, I just wonder if I should sharpen them right out of the package or are they good to go when new? I figure I will have to sharpen the ones I practice with, but was planning on just putting new ones on and hunt.

Re: Broadhead choice
Qad exodus and, magnus ser razors are great proven heads. The wasp havalon looks very good, I'm considering trying it this year. I used rage hypodermics for several years with great luck, until the last buck I shot both blades broke on entry, Still recovered the buck but switched after that.

Re: Broadhead choice
I'm shooting an expandable now, but my first archery deer was a young buck I shot between the eyes (not intentionally) with a one-piece G5 fixed blade. It went through the front of his skull and out the back and was fine, other than re-sharpening it. When I go back to a fixed blade, I'll probably track some more of those down.
