I have been having simalar arguments with my body... LOL.

I learned many years ago that dan is nuts. I like to hunt hard, but I tip my hat to you guys that wade through cold water at 3 am. I sat in the polar vortex last year just to see how long I could take it, but again dan is nuts.

The BBC contest will start soon, don't forget that the story, the effort, and not just the buck, equal the prize. And I am not talking about any donated prizes.
"The Prize" is being rewarded with votes by fellow BEASTs.

I can't wait to see the Kill Zone and the contest this year. Good Luck BEASTs.

Me 3, but weights, running and some biking are part of my "want." I don't bother weighing myself, but I had to buy a smaller belt recently. There's still time to get to it!

Honestly have a hard time relating. I feel a kinda existential guilt if I'm not putting my 110% into hunting. I can be a little lazy around the house, a little sluggish at work. Only two things all my life I have no problem whatsoever maintaining complete focus and motivated are hunting/fishing and competitive sports. Sometimes I wish I could turn it off or was wired like all the go getters that can focus on brainiac work for 8 hours straight.

Made me think of what happened to me in Ohio this past season. I shot a buck in the afternoon, but I recovered him the next morning as the shot wasn't the best. He was back in a ways so I debone and use one of my kids sled to bring him out. It was a steep bank up to the truck so I just carred him up in 2 trips. As I was bringing up the 2nd load to the truck the sun was shining in my eyes but I could see someone standing in the road. It surprised me a little as no one was parked by the truck when I took up the first load. Anyway it turned out to be a young Amish guy that was out for a hike as he had already filled his buck tag. He congratulated me and was checking out the buck. As we stood their chit chating he had asked me how the hunting was. I told him I had hunted all week from daylight to dark without seeing a buck until I got this one. He told me that I had to have alot of self-discipline to hunt like that.

So when I got home I told my wife that I am so good that even an amish guy said I had alot of self-discipline. LOL.

Ha! I had one morning last year in OH where It was wicked cold and windy, I've got the heat cranking in the car on the way to my spot at 5am, come around a curve and there is this amish guy walking down the side of the road, bow in one hand, other hand in his pocket. He is wearing a freaking straw hat, on his way to his hunting spot. Nearest farm was 1/2 mile away. I'll never forget being in my tree, bundled up in goretex and down and Merino, comfortable but on the verge of shivering, feeling like a wuss knowing that amish dude was out not far away dealing with the same conditions and a straw hat. That dude wanted it!

dan wrote:If you are 1/2 way intelligent, and you don't get fooled by all the fast talking fellas trying to sell you the latest greatest gidgets, gadgets, gizmo's, or pixie dust, you can learn to kill big bucks on a regular basis.

You can be taught to read sign, to read and understand maps. You can be shown where big bucks bed, you can learn why, when, and how they access an leave there secure area and how you can take advantage of it.

Its not really all that hard to learn if you work at it...

But... There is one thing you can't be taught, and you can't buy. That thing is "Want" You have to want to succeed. No, I don't mean like how you want a new car, or want to loose some weight. I mean you really, REALLY, have to want it.

Dig down deep, get up at 3am and wade thru ice cold belly deep swamp water and muck 2 miles in blackness to beat the buck to his bed kinda want. The kinda want that does that 10 days in a row without a single deer sighting and gets up the 11th day with a smile to do it again.

Nope... You can't buy passion and drive. Its either in you, or its not.

My bet is there are a few reading this that are thinking "what the heck is Dan talking about? Yea... They don't have it.

So heres to all the rest of you hard core, passion driven, nut jobs like me who are sick of the internet trolls and are ready to hit the woods.

Its almost time!

I thought I was hardcore until Dan thought it would be a good idea to drive 6 hours a day every day during the Minnesota public land challenge. That's hardcore, but its also only perspective. It made the two hour drive down to Dan's four days in a row no big deal last January.

Here's something cheesy that I've been doing to trick myself. Watch a UFC fight once. Nate Diaz threw 201 punches his last fight and landed 94 of them hitting Anthony Pettis in the head. The dude got hit in the head 94 times!!! The next time you don't want to go through that swamp or climb that hill or you feel too lazy to go scouting, just remember some people get punched in the head for a living so you have nothing to complain about. Too hot out? Too cold out? Mud is too deep? That area has poison sumac? Your fat? At least your not getting punched in the head. Get up and go!

I probably sound like a nutcase  but that's how I think

I watched that....i hate Nate and Nick...lol
