Re: 2019 BEAST Buck Lineup
I was blessed enough to take my 3rd deer ever, a buck no less on public land here in TN.

Re: 2019 BEAST Buck Lineup
Shot this guy Oct. 30 from the ground at 15yds quartering away. First bow kill from the ground and an exciting one I’ll always remember. Had to walk quarter mile up a creek to reach staging area. With the odd ball east wind I had that day, it was the only way I could reach the spot without being detected because of the doe and buck bedding on both sides of creek. Almost 99.9% certain I walked right by this guy bedded next to creek as I was working my way into the staging area located about 50yds from a corn field. It took about an hour to get to the spot and when I popped up over the creek bank the sign was really hot. After reviewing the sign I picked out a tree adjacent to a crab apple tree that appeared to be receiving a lot of attention. I Was able to set my sticks and stand, and got down to tie my pull rope to my bow. As I was doing this I heard a deer work his way across the creek and over to the crab apple tree. A button buck appeared and started feeding. I got on my knees and waited to see if anything was working it’s way behind him. Finally after 10 min I decided to try to quietly work my way up my sticks when as I was beginning to stand up I heard a few grunts coming from the thick over growth (buck bedding) next to creek. Then the tall tines appeared from the brush and I wasn’t in my stand, and worse my bow was laying beside me on the ground without an arrow nocked. I had a pretty rough season up to this point so in my mind I was calling myself every name in the book because I wasn’t setup 5 min earlier ready to roll. Then the buck appeared in an opening about twenty yds. away and the first thing he does is look right in my direction. At this point I’m hunched over on my knees reaching for my bow trying to keep the smallest profile possible. Then the stare off begins and last for what seemed like an eternity. Ten min went by and suddenly out of the corner of my eye I seen the buck look away from me and directly at the area the button buck had appeared from earlier. So I looked over my shoulder too and out of nowhere a doe appeared from the creek bottom and was beginning to feed on the crab apples. A miracle that distracted the buck long enough to allow me to grab my bow, knock an arrow, draw, and wait for him to step into an opening. The rest was history. It was amazing that even though that mature buck spotted me and knew I presented some kind of danger, when that doe appeared it was like he completely forgot I was even there. I firmly believe that the reason I killed that buck was because of the stealthy entrance route to the staging area and how I played the wind just right for that specific location. If the wind was blowing from any other direction that day, that buck would of smelt me working my way up the creek or when we had our stare off. And it would of been game over.

Land of Lincoln. Firearm buck. Had a close encounter with the bow a few weeks prior but the shot never presented. He wasn’t so lucky the second go-round.

Northern Tier NY Public Land Kill 12/8/19
Great morning to be in the woods. Had about 10” of snow on the ground so I decided to do some tracking. Got into an area covered in hemlocks where some deer had been through and I decided to follow them to see where they took me. Not to far along their trail I look up and see a deer bedded about 70 yards away. Couldn’t quite see his rack until he sticks his nose in the air smelling away. As soon as he did that I quickly took my crosshairs from his head right to his chest and pulled the trigger. He never left his bed.

Re: 2019 BEAST Buck Lineup
First cold front in mid October. Set up in area with multiple scrapes and bedding off point/ brush near creek bottom. At an hour before last light a button buck, mature doe, decent 8 pointer, and this 9 pointer came up the ridge. The 9 went right to the big scrape that I had put buck urine in and offered a slight quartering away shot from 20 yards. Public land kill in SW MO.
