Looks like a bed backed up to White Oak, to me. Not sure I have ever seen a scrape that close to a tree. Most scrapes are under licking branches in a more open area, away from the main trunk of the tree.

Agree with the others, congrats on finding a bed! Kinda like finding buried treasure. Now go out and find a bunch more...

It looks to me the leaves have
been “kicked out” especially around the upper portion.

I could be wrong, but the picture looks like it a little.

If the leaves are pushed out that far, it may be a spot where a turkey hunter made a quiet place to sit and call?
But if that were the case the hunter sidnt need much space as me  my cleared off areas are huge

I’m glad I wasn’t the only one that thought this. Turkey hunter or deer or squirrel hunter after leaf drop would be my guess.

Not a scrape. I am also leaning towards a couple turkey or squirrel hunters. Looks like leaves on other side are moved also. I do know if I were a deer sleeping on that tree root I could never get comfortable. Was there hair or deer tracks in it?

You guys could be right. As far as the next comment. I've seen beds, complete with hair. On some pretty nasty roots in a swamp.

Looks like a bed to me.

Could be turkey hunters but chances are they would make a square not a circle.

Turkey scratching, could be from bugs near the tree. Those turkeys are good at making bare spots.
