Curiouser
I'm always looking at land when riding around anywhere, noticing what looks like really good hunting, if there are posted signs, wondering who owns it. So I had a few minutes with nothing to do and I was looking at some of these areas on my OnX app, and I find this, 15 acres owned by an inner city church. There is literally nothing here. No place to put a camp or really do anything here. They have owned it for 25 years, and I wonder if somebody left it to them in their will or what. And a railroad track runs right next to it, so you could hike up the side and access deeper in where there is some woods. Might need to call them up.
Lots of animal trails all around in here, and at least one tree that looks like the center of a wheel.

Re: Curiouser
Go for it.
I can tell you from experience, or rather lack of it. (My health has kept me from really getting alot of boots on the ground time, since finding/joining the Beast.) Any time spent scouting different/new chunks of ground will help you figure things out/learn. Even finding nothing worth while at first. Will help you learn what's not worth putting boots on the ground on. While cyber scouting.

Re: Curiouser
I know 15 acres doesn't sound like much but in the country here there aren't a lot of large acreages all together and everybody with 5 acres or 50 is out hunting it. So the deer do tend to hide out on small pieces like this.
And its only 15 or 20 minutes from home, so easy to get there when the wind is right.

The right 15 acres could be priceless!!!
I never discount a parcel due to a small size. I actually hunt a couple pieces of 200 acre public that only about 10-20 acres on each piece is golden
Good luck, hope you can gain access

Re: Curiouser
The single best piece of ground I ever owned or hunted was a 12 acre piece that I sold last year when we decided to build a new house. Hated getting rid of it but there was just no way to keep it and just sell the house. Anyways, I owned and hunted this 12 acre piece for 4 years and shed hunted it for a total of 11 years. This small 12 acres averaged 7 sheds per year and in the 4 years I hunted it, I was able to harvest 3 bucks ranging from 140 to 164 and had a combined age of 23 years. It was narrow but it was thick and nasty and it was located between point A and point B for a lot of deer. Not too mention I showed it little to no pressure, never even touched the back 6 acres of it except twice every March to shed hunt it and only hunted it in prime conditions. The right low acreage piece in the right spot can be better than any large tract within miles. In fact, I'd take a small parcel with little to no options over a large tract anywhere if the sign is there and its in the right spot.
The piece in your pic looks like it has the potential to be a goldmine. Best of luck to you.

Re: Curiouser
The big single trees in the swamp look like prime buck bedding.
Definitely give it a go.
Growing up I hunted a 22 acre rental property it was a amazing little piece for buck travel. Currently I own a small 10 acre parcel.

Re: Curiouser
My buddy owns 10 acres and maybe 1 acre is woods. Travel corridor between two huge woodlots. Shoots deer every year and some nice bucks. Doesn’t eat venison so we are very good friends

It looks like it could hold some nice cover, either those bushes in the middle or just the cattails /wood edge.
Good luck!
