If you chew them up a little you can pin point local feeding areas. If they're bitter he's eating acorns, if they're sweet he's eating apples, and if they're in between flavor he's eating regular green browse.

Might come across corn kernels while chewing. Since there is no guess work with them, it’s best to spit them like sunflower seeds as they’re encountered, then keep assessing.

I tried this today while scouting on many different sized and shaped pellets and they all tasted like crap. Any ideas on how to improve my palate to help differentiate between flavors?
