It sounds like you haven't adopted much by way of GPS technology, but have you ever traced one of your tracking jobs? I've started turning on the breadcrumb feature when on a track and its pretty interesting. I wish I had started doing it earlier.
I'm not sure what I said to give you that idication. I do track every deer that I follow and save those trails. I like to go back and look at them in detail afterwards. I learn a great deal about buck movement doing this. I look at the trail in aerial photos and topo. they both point out interesting facts. Good hunting to you!
