Re: Exodus interview with Dan Infalt
Since I am not hunting again this morning, I might as well give it a listen.

Dan I haven’t heard you talk about scents very much. In the video you mentioned that as you scout into a spot your only concerns for scent are not to walk on his trails where he is coming and going, and also not to let your scent get to where he is at. But my question is, sometimes during the rut they can come from unexpected directions so do you ever use estrous scents or anything like that to throw them off if it’s rut and you are concerned they may come from down wind of you?

No doubt estrous scents can work... But they also can cost you deer, and cause deer to come in on alert and I have seen deer spook at the smell of it. While I do agree deer "can" come in from any direction, most people who say that are setting up on sign rather than bedding and terrain. Even in rut, my target bucks generally come from right where expected. For me, the best way to kill mature bucks is to put the gimmicks away and hunt them down.

Thanks for the answer Dan. This is my first full season attempting to be a beast and that’s what I was thinking as well, just try to keep all scent out of the equation, including my own but I wasn’t sure.
