I gotta say, part 1 was probably his best interview. I think hes little like me and gets going about something, gets little flutstered or off topic but part 1 he was very collected. He talked more about his dad, growing up and becoming a bowhunter. He was also honest and also said his goal is to best his old mans wall
Great listen.
As far as tactics go -
I liked what he said about bedding and how it isnt everything chasing bucks. I do however think thats situational and will vary based on how a guy hunts. For a guy that hops around alot and doesnt really target specific deer then bedding is for sure everything. Going for broke every outing. Its the biggest piece of the puzzle but isnt necessary for every situation. You wont always know where they are bedding either...
I agree w him that tracks are dynamite, especially for a guy that doesnt utilize cameras for everything. One of my favorite things he talks about is being in tight to trails and locating those specific trails bc he isnt taking a 40 yard shots. I feel like I can relate to this bc taking 40yard shot in the back yard is not the same as in the woods.
There was a comment on social media about where he hunts and I think someone on here said something about it last interview he had. Sometimes id be in agreement w something like that but considering these tactics work on pressured public deer - I have to disagree. If it was mark drury or someone alike then id agree but this guy would rather scout than use cams and he doesnt use ozonics when he can afford to and all his buddies do. I also thought something he said about scent was very intriguing and how a buck can in a way "scent bank" your specific scent which could make it tougher chasing him or scouting for him. I was thinking about this exact thing the other day bc a dog can do it so why couldnt a deer? Not sure how much water that holds but very interesting.
I doubt we ever hear from AD in the future but crazier things have happened I guess. Maybe he likes his sons interviews and decides to open up at least once... I think (if Cody is willing) it would be good for someone to ask him to talk about AD's situation he had in IL which the industry had alot to say about at the time. Considering you got guys like Chris Brackett and wildgame dude poaching animals, it was a very minor thing to put under a micro scope at the time. I only say that bc if anyone googles AD thats usually what pops up.
All in all I enjoy listening to Cody and I think he has alot more that can be said w the right questions being asked. Good stuff
