Re: Magicman podcast!!
Awesome podcast. Thank you for sharing.
I only get 2-3 snows a year in the south. I cut tracks any chance I can. In my opinion, 1 day of cutting tracks is like 10 days out scouting without snow. I really stop and listen when I hear an experienced tracker giving advice.
A few of my takeaways from the show:
-Amazing stuff about bucks having personalities and using specific trails.
-I’m glad to hear someone else that finds value in buck turds. In my opinion, “clumps” are just turds that get compacted down in the deer’s rectum after bedding down for awhile. I don’t think it has anything to do with diet. Clumps = deer’s first crap after bedding. Lots of clumps= bedding area.
-Like Kevin, I have yet to find a worn in bed. I thinks it’s generally because of a lack of pressure and TONS of steep nasty places that people would be stupid to try to access. I think less pressure and no ag = deer have more freedom to be nomadic.
-The little I have cut tracks, I’ve found that coyotes tend to travel in places that people would normally travel, and deer do not take the path of least resistance. I’ve found that the woods are filled with old skidder trails, but the deer with opt to use less obvious trails. Even with very little pressure.
Thanks again!!! I hope you do more podcasts.

I listened to the podcast. I think it’s some of Todd’s best stuff yet. Worth one or two re-listens.

Re: Magicman podcast!!
I can't even begin to tell everyone how timely this episode was for me as I prepare to hunt Michigans UP for the first time this year. We'll be hitting private land day 1 of our firearms opener and then after that it's free reign to hunt the private or the thousands of public that's within a 1/2 hr drive. My heart is already set on spending some time cutting tracks on public at least one of those days.
Excellent podcast.
Excellent podcast.

Simply put... fantastic interview Todd!!!
I really enjoyed this. I thought something interesting you said was about certain bucks liking specific tree types and rubbing those types. You also talked about food and browse, which I enjoyed bc iv seen many deer randomly eat as they walk. My favorite part was about bucks switching patterns and using specific trails more often than people think. This gives me confidence.
Im curious more what you said about how some days in row not see any buck tracks and then it seemed like all the bucks were on their feet in the same night. I havent noticed you comment about the moon much but was curious if you thought it had anyting to do with that scenario? HAve you documented your days and intel enough to look back and check this?

Thanks for the kind words.
The only thing I have noticed in regards to the moon is they just dont move very much night or day during a full moon. I dont like hunting full moons.
