As of last night we still had a couple holding onto the velvet in the south metro.

Looks like I should expect mid 80's temps for the hight and south winds all weekend which should keep a lot of people at home. If there is a silver lining with the warmer temps its that a south wind gives you different opportunities for accessing spots you normally would not have the chance to...

I've got Sat. to go, so I'm going. 82* high, S wind, not the best, but I have a plan. Wed. looks to be the best based on temps in my area. but this is it for my real early season.

Yup, looks like the cold front won't hit until Monday night into Tuesday. I've been conflicted. Do I hunt some of my better buck beds in the heat hoping that I can get close enough for daylight movement? Or do I wait until the cold front and try to fill the freezer during the weekend? Then again, I'm not going to get that South wind on a cold front so I might as well hunt those South wind beds since I wouldn't be set up right for them on the North wind anyway.

Might try some bed hunts in the am, its opening weekend and the warm weather might have them still moving early and coming to bed late.

Anyone noticed if bucks have split from bachelor groups at this point in the year? Any rub sign or is way too early?

Interesting. I wonder if that's a personality thing if they start doing that earlier than others.

They’re still bachelored up. Last night I saw a bachelor group while observing a bean field, then 4 yearlings and a two year old when I shined an alfalfa field.
