Re: Dating the fat chick...
Here is my problem. I want a date the fat chick spot, but I can't seem to muster the confidence. I mean what if she's not fun.......just embarrassing to be around. Things like " is it big enough", "is there enough cover" , "aren't they scared they would be seen"................what really is the criterea? Does it have to be a perect wind spot for the buck, proximity to feed, proximity to doe bedding, hot sign...........I know there is no right answer, I imagine you have to be willing to date a few boring fatties though.......I just hate giving up hunts (come to think of it that is probably my problem sometimes)

Lol, Hunted a fat girl spot last year, I was not more then 30 yards from the road, in a 4” diameter dead tree Had a buck come through before daylight got pushed out of his bed by duck hunters. I knew he was a buck because he made so much noise walking through the marsh then made a big rub before he crossed the road. I was just hoping people driving by would not see me.
Anyways here is a link to the 400 pound slob buck for new guys that have not read this story, one of Dans best!

This would be a much more vibrant discussion if we were in a bar or camp, not posting for the world to see. Love the analogy though. Cracked me up.

Re: Dating the fat chick...
I would love to see a drawing/basic layout of this area and the spot you hunted. What variables put those two big bucks there aside from it being overlooked? Just pressured beds that were perfect to monitor human traffic? Was it a sighting that showed you that this could be a viable spot, or sign, or just that you had ruled everything else out?
I have a couple spots that sound similar but have yet to be successful in one. Last year my last hunt was in a spot that is similar, I checked the bed as I left and was bummed to find the buck I was after dead in his bed, hit by a car.

Great analogy Dan, and one I needed to hear as I have a couple spots like this to try this season.
Just think of how many "fat chick" stories we will hear this fall....can't wait!
