Ever Wonder how many times you've walked past a shed you were looking for?

Unread postby PredatorTC » Fri Jan 12, 2018 9:03 am

We all wonder this! Back in 2008, 2009, and 2010 I chased a local slob. The older he got, the better I had him figured out. One winter day in 2009 I was following his tracks and he took me right to one of his bedding areas where I picked one of his sheds right out of his bed. It was my biggest shed at the time and is probably still one of my biggest. For the rest of the winter, I searched high and low for the other side. I grid searched everywhere for that one shed. Like many sheds I never found it. But like everyone, I wondered how many times I walked past it or how close I ever got to it. That question was answered for me the other day when I saw two tines sticking out if the ice. After getting an axe and chipping it out, I was blown away to find a 9 year old shed of the slob I had one chased! I bet I've walked past that shed 20 plus times since 2009 and multiple times that year. Thought it was a neat story worth a share. The buck was killed by the orange army the next year scoring 174.

Im going to attempt posting photos. Bare with me.

Cool stuff right there. Looks like the swamp muck saved that shed for a few years! That buck turned into a giant! Nice find and even better story behind it.

Today? Hopefully more than once! Because it's going to rain tonight which should take care of more snow pack.

That is a cool story!

Wonder how many of those I walk over in cattail marshes? Surprised I never stepped on one and punctured my boots or waders. Last week I tripped over a frozen dead buck in the cattails that I never saw. If I missed that how the heck am I going to find an antler?

I love a good shed story! Pretty dang cool set one being white, the other black.

Funny, I was out this evening grid searching for the match to the shed I found January 2nd.
I have often wondered exactly how far I was from the shed I was looking for at that exact moment.
I have also wondered the same thing about big bucks.

These were only 100 yards apart roughly.

I would not bleach it. I would get one of those plastic skull euro mount kits and slap them on there.
Great conversation piece.
