Confused about water thermals and wind

Unread postby Blakebry123 » Sat Dec 30, 2017 8:01 am

Can someone explain how the thermals and water work? I’m assuming when the temp starts to drop in the afternoons, the water is still warmer than the temp.so the water will suck my scent down towards the water? Should I sit on the edge of the water then? So how do you play that? I’m in the swamp dvd for my second time through and it’s kind of confusing me. Thanks guys!

Water thermals are not as strong or predictable as hill country ground thermals, but you have the right idea, warmer water will heat the air above it causing the air to rise and suck in surrounding cooler air. Where you can have confusion is when the water is colder than expected or the wind over powers the water thermals. I like to set up close to warm water so my scent rises.
