Ok. Can you hunt during gun seasons with a bow? If you kill a buck during Oct, can you kill a second buck with your bow during gun? OR is it GUN buck only?

Resident or non-resident.

Idk the answer to your question specifically but I believe the answer is different for NR...

I’m pretty sure you can’t. Listened to a podcast a couple weeks back with the Wensel brothers, and they were complaining about how Iowa won’t let you hunt with a bow during gun seasons. It may be different for a NR though.

Late musket season you can use a bow. Other gun seasons you can't use a bow.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

My buddies are there now. They were told if you apply for a non resident gun tag you could hunt with a lesser weapon. But you can only hunt the season you applied for.

Bows are not a legal lesser weapon during shotgun season. Archery equipment can be used as a lesser weapon during late muzzle loader season.

Archery season starts Oct 1, closed on the first Friday of December for the 2 shotgun seasons, reopens December 18th this year (shotgun season 1 opens the first Saturday in December, runs 5 days, two day break, then second season opens for 9 days). Archery reopens after second shotgun, runs concurrent with late muzzle loader, ends Jan 10.

The top of page 32 tells you what weapon can be used in each season.

I don't know why anyone would want to be in a tree when people are doing large drives regardless of state. Private ground maybe.
