Well, here she is. My second deer with my bow. Last Tuesday night, my dad went in around noon to check how green the beans were where I wanted to hunt. He told me that there was about a 30 foot strip along the edge of the field that were green yet but turning yellow. I was sitting where a little white oak chunk of woods, a bean field corner, and a swamp edge with a grass buffer all meet together. Once I got in to my stand, I notice the greenest beans in the field were in my corner, 20 yards ahead of me. At 7:00 pm, I seen a doe about 250 yards ahead of me in the bean field but was heading my way. Remember now, shooting ended at 7:25 that night so I knew it would be close. I then noticed she had a fawn with her too as she closed the distance. They made their way all the way down to about 30 yards and messed around a bit. I was shaking like a leaf!! All of the sudden, at about 7:15 I figured, the doe turns to my right and kinda bee lined it towards the woods. I drew back when she was at 20 yards and she wouldn't stop. At about 15 yards, I realized I had to stop her. "Meh" she stopped and looked away from me. I settled and let her have it. I was confident about the hit right away! She took off into the woods to the left of me and looped around along the swamp edge. She barreled into a little island of trees and then silence. Yes!!! I backed out and my brother picked me up. As dad was at work, my brother and I decided to go look for a while. We went in and only found a little blood. We decided to back out and go back in the morning. At 5:30, dad woke us up and we headed back in there. We couldn't really follow a blood trail because it definitely wasn't really pumping it out very well. Doing a blood/body search, dad found her piled up right where I thought she would after hearing her crash. When gutting her, we seen that I hit her perfect right and left but a couple inches high. One lung & liver shot. Also about 10-12 inches of penetration. I definitely couldn't have found her nor got her out by myself so my brother and dad were a huge help! Very exciting hunt and recovery! First deer using beast tactics, thanks guys!!
