Milkweed

Unread postby bowhunter1627 » Wed Sep 27, 2017 2:13 pm

I'm having a terrible time finding any milkweed. Is it too late to find any? I've been looking in and around ditches but haven't ran across any. I'd pay for shipping if someone would be willing to send me some.

Thanks,

Josh

I've struggled recently to find some in the area I'm currently hunting but found some while scouting this past weekend. Filled my pockets and put them in the truck when i came out. My wife will probably be upset the next time she gets in the truck and there's milkweed floating everywhere.

Can't find any in south east Mi. I usually get it at one of the properties I hunt up in the thumb but I haven't been to that property yet. My wife tossed them when we cleaned out our garage. Thank god for the Beast.

:naughty: We can't be having that around here

Actually one of the spots I hunt has an old logging trail that is solid milkweed for a half mile. Don't know how or why, but man is it nice to just throw up a big ball of fluff every step

The spot where I normally pick mine got cut down before I got any. Was a good 1/4 mile patch it never gets cut but this year it did. Luckily I should have enough stashed to make it through until next season.

I've had a rough time finding milkweed as well. I don't know if other beasts in the southern Milwaukee area have snatched it all up but the ditches are empty around these parts!

If you can't find milkweed, you can also harvest seeds from thistle and American burnweed (Erechtites hieraciifolius). They float through the air identical to milkweed. I am sure there are others also. Milkweed is definitely the easiest if you have it.
Some do. Some don't. I just might...
