Pine plantations in hill country
I'm totally new to hill country and it's too close to season for me to scout. The area where I will be hunting has a few smaller pine plantations(maybe 1-5 acres). Do bucks use these for cover or bedding often? They all seem to be near the tops of the hills.

Re: Pine plantations in hill country
Provided its a lee side and a third from the top the pines are not too thick mature bucks use them.
Not every pine plantation will be good they require a lot of scouting effort much more then some terrain types it's very easy to setup slightly off in southern pine plantations.
They are difficult to find bedding in if they are only a few years old. Bedding is easier to find in mature pines.
The pines also make good transition line.so hunting the edges as bucks leave their bedding is best provided you find his exit trail from bedding and your able to get setup without spooking him.
They will most likely be better provided its thick terrain around them.
