Thermal Question

Will rising thermals still happen during the day when there is heavy overcast skies? Would you set up differently as a result?

Depends on how warm the ground gets in the morning and how fast it cools, Just have to play with the milkweed.

It still goes through it's cycle. Even if it's cloudy and cold out. It will not be as strong some days though. And it may pull back and forth through the day sometimes.

I would set up as the milkweed tells me to. Thermals can vary greatly. I hunt in mountains and you can not count on thermals or wind to ever do as predicted.

But as a general rule of thumb, I agree with previous posts.
Some do. Some don't. I just might...

What kind of mountains do you hunt? If there is a bluff below the bed where a j hook may not be possible, he could side hill into the bed. That guy in the NE mountains sees them in/after grey light and sets up high bc of it.
