You think wicked? I kinda hoped but no one
in my small circle thinks he will gross 130". They think the believe that once the velvet is gone he looks much skinnier.

Hard to say w velvet and not getting a good look at spread. I'd say he's pushing 130s. Either way good buck for public

Finding them and killing them are two different things. That is not a buck to pass in PA public. Good luck w him

But if that deer doesn't make you happy you need to go somewhere else. Maybe it's a different property in your home state. Maybe it's out of state but if shooting the best deer you have around isn't good enough then maybe reevaluate where you are spending your time hunting.

I get wanting to shoot 130 caliber deer. That's why I drive between 14-20hrs to the Midwest every year. I pass deer in the Midwest that if killed in my home county would be talked about for a couple yrs.

Follow your dream there but it may require a relocation to reach it.

I think u should shoot what makes u happy and don't worry about scores or what other people think.

Scores are what make me happy lol!! I am kind of ashamed to admit that but it's true. I ask other what they score bc I want know not to impress:)

I appreciate the honesty. Good luck!

Bucks like that just give me "that" feeling. What a hoss. I'd love to hear the hunt story, tactic and scouting involved with him, if you don't mind.

My 8pt from this year. What he scored, don't know. What anyone thinks, I don't care! The challenge and story he left me with makes him a trophy to me.

I am telling you that searching for deer that make certain scores is the thing that makes me happy!! As for the guys that say they will never see deer like this, well that just sucks lol. I work extremely hard to find deer like this. This is public land in Pa.

Just wondering what's the magic about 130? So you only want to shoot a 130, 8 point? Or any 130 buck? I'm just curious why only a buck of that certain score will make you happy? I'm a guy who has never score any of the bucks I've shot, and wondering maybe I'm missing out on something?

Man do I love big 8 points!

My best mainframe 8 is around 120 and your velvet buck looks a similar class but longer tines. I am going to say high 120s gross but don't think he is quite at 130. And for the record, I am not understanding why score matters so much to you, but I try not to judge.

I pass on bucks too, but it is a different assessment than measurements alone. One of my favorite bucks ever is a deformed old brute that only ever grew one antler, his other pedicle only grew buttons. He was old as heck but he don't score too good haha.

This was a 9 pt that grossed 143" so if you took the G4 off one side he would be low 130's as an 8.

For me a buck that scores 130 was most likely gonna be at least 3.5 years old. In the areas I hunted. And what I thought about ages of deer. The Beast has shed some light on that thinking though.

To be honest I figured my first true old timer would have some kind of messed up rack. That wouldn't score well. But I'd love that just as much as a perfect typical. Any buck that's truely mature is a welcome trophy. Always thought it would be cool to shoot a spike that was actually 4.5+YO. Talk about a rare animal that is. Actually saw a pic of one once. Had 2' long spikes.

I don't really understand why people get so tight about someone gunning for a certain scoring buck. As long as you don't freak out if it scores 128 or something then have at it.
