This county is one of the meccas in Indiana!
"One of the chief attractions of the life of the wilderness is its rugged and stalwart democracy; there every man stands for what he actually is and can show himself to be." — Theodore Roosevelt, 1893

Hopefully they offer debt financing on the $19,000 a year this lease would cost. :o

And I thought hunting was a blue-collar sport.

Holy carp! At $19,000 a year I guess some people have a lot more money to burn than I do!!! For that price I hope someone walks the deer over to me on a leash.

Hammer of a buck.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

I'll take one acre if it includes a primary buck bedding area within that one acre. If it happens to be in the middle and other leasing beast members try to stick me with a trespass fee I'll access by helicopter.

$50 an acre is almost double what basecamp and hunting lease network charge. Why so high?

I listened to a podcast today about leasing.. Was on WhiteTail Faktor I think. They had the dude from BaseCamp who handles Indiana on and they were talking shop. Basically the cost per acre depends on the terrain and how many hunters they think it can concurrently accommodate. If the location is ideal - like up against a state park, the price goes up, if the neighbors also practice quality deer management, the price goes up, on and on.... They were talking 30 dollars an acre on the average... So 50 - I guess it could happen if conditions were ideal.

Sounds like a ton of loot - and it is. But he said a lot of their higher end spenders are actually companies that send teams out hunting, etc. Team building exercises or whatever... and they never have a problem finding takers. Even at those costs they're at a 98% fill rate for leases they manage. So the market is there apparently.
