If you are looking for another topic to talk about on a podcast, you might talk about doing deer drives and the thought process that actually goes into it. Some guys just "Drive timber" and set standers at the property line. This topic may appeal to many of the gun hunters that have no clue about the buck bedding tactics that you are talking about. Just a thought if you were looking for other topics...

You should post that in Marios recent post looking for topics and questions...

Great podcast as usual. I agree it's nice to have someone to bounce ideas off of without worry of them intruding. Loose lips sink ships. Half the time just through conversation with them you end up answering your own questions.

Another great podcast Dan! Like others have said I'm looking forward to a HB podcast with more in depth questions.

I just finished listening. Great stuff once again!

When you said as a kid people would pat you on the back for getting a basket 8 pointer. That's pretty much still how it is here in PA and especially how I was raised hunting. We hunted and still hunt for meat. And there's nothing wrong with that.
Actually that's what I settled for again this year with the bow after "failing" at BEAST bed hunting this past season in my first year trying it. I used quotations there because even though I didn't kill a big buck I did get to play cat and mouse with a 4.5 year old buck this past season after finding one of his beds. That never would have happened to me before reading the hunting BEAST.
But now in my 2nd Beast season I'm taking so much pride in just going out scouting and finding beds. Its never been so rewarding for me to go out and walk in the woods. Im getting on the larger 3 and 4 year old bucks that other guys would only see at 2am on there trail cam with a bait pile and then have no clue where it came from.
Im seeing myself really turn a corner here now after 20 years of hunting basket racks and an occasion 100 incher. I wish I had found this information way younger but now at 30 i guess better late than never! Thanks Dan! Your teachings are appreciated way more than you might know.

Dan I think this was one of your best podcasts yet honestly. You did a good job talking about different situations.

I think sometimes uniformed listeners like you say can jump to the wrong conclusions sometimes...such as "bed hunting is too high pressure for me!" You did a good job of explaining things like that.

Its too much for me...I paused the show, bailed out of office, hit the timber and prepped 2 spots I have been wanting to get to off scouting I did early in the winter. Really hard to focus on work.

I appreciated some of the bigger events that frame the context for the bbsk you are today. Not many of us can say we had Andre come see a deer we pulled out from a property he hunts but I think many of us have those break through hunting moments that set us apart from most. Cool to hear more of your story and as always tactics were spot on. Great pcast
