New deer hunting partner

Unread postby woodswalker » Mon May 15, 2017 1:30 am

Most of the time I hunt alone with a few exceptions when my grandson can hunt with me. The last two years the deer I shot swapped ends when they were shot and ran down into a ravine that is next to my stand. The first one, I was alone and managed to get it out myself, the next one my grandson was with me but I left him in the stand in case another deer came by so I wouldn't interfere with his hunting. I got the thing half way up the side of the ravine and I had to asked my grandson to come help me finish the job. I had been looking for a used 4wd atv since the first deer went into the ravine but the 4wds were just too expensive. About a month ago I found a 2008 Kawasaki Prairie 4wd for 4 grand, in real nice condition. It has a few scuffs on it but mechanically it is in tip top condition. I bought it and had a Warn winch installed and I put a Kolpin gun boot on it. The next deer that goes into the ravine I will be going down with my winch cable and drag rope and the electric horse will be doing the dragging. Those up hill drags don't go nearly as easily at 70 as they did a few years ago. If you click on the pictures they will get larger.

Nice looking rig. Those things are super useful.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

You know Stash, you are probably right going by things happening in the past. I got tired of losing electric at my home several times a year so I bought a while house generator four years ago and I have only lost electric once, for about 20 minutes since I installed the generator.

Great looking rig! I'm sure you will get good use out of it.

I still get jealous of my farm buds that "shot a big 10, I'm on the tractor to pick him up, will post pics from the barn..."

I use my quad for snow plowing the driveway, pulling a trailer for yard work, ice fishing on inland and Great Lakes... in addition to hunting if the area I'm in shows an advantage.

Great purchase.

You'll never hear that hunting buddy complaining about the long drag!

Congratulations!

I've got a 2 wheel drive and it does all kinds of things. If you ever want to till a food plot, get a groundhog max. Works great.
