Nuisance/damage abetement permit

Unread postby Buckinator » Sat Apr 22, 2017 4:44 am

Has anybody hunted through WISCONSIN COOPERATIVE Deer DAMAGE ABATEMENT program? my understanding that this is where people have problems resulting from deer population and are allowed to hunt them. Just wondering if anybody has participated in a hunt and if it is worth seeking people out that have property registered. Sure would be cool to get a Velvet buck.
Thanks.

most of the permits are for antlerless deer only, to reduce the population. A rare case would be a tree farm that may have a tag for bucks. I have killed does on this type of permit, nice to knock the dust off. Good Luck.

The permits for damage to farms in PA are does only and since they are only valid in the early summer, most of the does are carrying fawns, which turns off a lot of hunters who never apply again.
Life is short, eat dessert first!

Never tried it but read something on the WI dnr website once saying they "prefer" you to just use firearms and just kill does.

Ooo yeah this is kinda different than I thought. I'll just concentrate on gathering intelligence for the real hunting season
