I Need a Pick Me Up

Unread postby Jrichard » Sun Apr 02, 2017 7:10 am

So this week I found out that Rhode Island is now coming back down to earth. They are only giving hunters two tags per year. One buck and one Doe. Before it was 2 Buck and 3 Doe.

What is the tag limit for you guys n gals in your States? I hope this is common across the board. Or else I am going to have to do some serious hunting out in Connecticut.

One buck tag for bow and one buck tag for gun. We are allowed extra doe tags for each but I have no desire to fill those.

One buck per year, two deer limit per county in this area. If you hunt multiple countys then the total is six one of which can be a buck.

Massachusetts gives two buck tags with your license. Doe tags are by lottery and zone specific.

Connecticut gives two either sex tags and two antlerless tags which are good state wide. You also get one either sex tag and one antlerless tag for the January season on private land in zones 11 and 12 only. If you hunt private land in zones 11 and 12 you can get unlimited replacement tags. There are some guys that shoot 30+ deer a season.

I live in Pennsylvania. We are a one buck state. The doe tags really depends on where you live, but for me I usually end up with two doe tags as well. If I want a second buck tag I need to go out of state.

Six deer only two of six can be bucks.
I'm reason they call it hunting and not shooting.

2 bucks in Michigan combined for any season. One has to have at least 3 inches of antler the other 4 points on a side. Pretty much unlimited doe permits where I hunt. I usually only buy one doe tag a year.

Going to go a different way to give you a pick up. If they're reducing buck tags 50% and doe tags 67% then there's obviously a deer population shortage. I'd be glad that your state wildlife department is getting ahead of the game and trying to better the future of hunting.

Like Dewey said Wi. is 1 buck per bow, 1 buck per gun. You get a doe tag with each. But in some areas you can by more doe tags. Your not restricted to how many different counties you can by tags from. So in theory. More than you could hunt and eat in 1 year.

In MN 1 buck total, doe tag availability varies throughout the state and condition of the herd. Some zones are buck only, some zones are a lottery for antlerless tags, and some areas offer multiple antlerless.

I also hunt in WI, rifle and bow.

X2 and it depends on your zone/county. I do get a doe tag for each usually but it is zone and county and public/private specific.
