Just a funny thing that I have witnessed the last 2 years..I pretty much hunt Christmas to New years day..I also bow hunt early december..NYD is the last day of the season in Michigan..
This year, like the last, I was seeing the same does in the same general area a few days in a row..These deer had been ultra cautious about entering the open woods from adjacent bedding thickets along the marsh...January second of both years I ended up doing some scouting...Both years I encountered deer in the evening working thier way out of the thicket into the woods...Theres a hiking trail less than 30 yards away which runs parrallel..Group of 5 or 6 does let me walk by less than 25 yards away..Even stop and look for a few seconds..No way on this green earth would that have happened just 24 hours prior...It just seemed like they were way too relaxed...Funny, and I am sure only coincidental behavior..Deer know when the season starts thats for sure..Do they know when it ends? :)
Do deer know when the season is over? :)

One observation point: Last year I had a cell camera up at a location that semi-regularly had been baited. Only pics middle of the night and of doe and a couple scrapper bucks. The season ended on a Saturday, and the very next day, a nice 8 point buck strolled in front of the camera mid-afternoon.

I agree.
Deer also know the difference between a preadator and a hiker. When we hunt we change the way we move through the woods and I believe that deer can tell the difference.

You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

Jumped a buck out of a bed in a river bottom a few years back. Had a big flood earlier in the hunting season so there was a bit of trash down there. Within 5 feet of the bed were a couple beer cans and the cover of a playboy magazine. Couldn't make this up if I tried. Still shocked I never took a picture of this
So I would definitely vote no on fireman for a bucks calendar based off this
