My buddies and I do an annual muzzleloader camping trip January 1st. This is the 4th year and we finally were able to get a deer down and have fresh tenderloins on the open fire. They were amazing! Also, I decided to try and make a hat out of this coyote that I called in last November.
I think it turned out pretty well. (I know I need to be careful wearing it out in the woods because there are idiots out there but we were in a private area where no one was supposed to be. If I wear it in the future, I'm going to incorporate some removable fluorescent orange streamers or something for safety).
Dad surprised my 2 brothers and I this Christmas with knives that he hand-made and I carried it hoping to gut a deer with it but I didn't get a shot.
I added some leather to carry it around my neck since I was too paranoid to have it on my belt. He said it took him 9 months to make them and I didn't believe he actually made them until he showed me the brass and steel that he started with. Definitely going to be a gift I cherish forever.
I also was able to venture out to the Foundation that I solo-camped in earlier this year and wrote about in my Hunting Journal:
Here's some additional pictures from our trip. Great times!
