Black Bear effect on deer hunt

Unread postby AAAK » Thu Dec 29, 2016 12:43 pm

I have had several hunts this yr where black bears showed up. This past Monday I had 5 wrestling around within 50 yds making all kinds of racket. I had one of them start climbing my tree. I could not spook them finally after 1.5 hrs they went back the way they came. I left after they did. How much effect do bears have on your deer hunting for the day if you see them on stand? I had this happen earlier in the yr stayed and ended up seeing two does. Just curious what experience any one has had with this situation. It's in Florida so I can't shoot them and they are everywhere (I have seen 8 this yr).

I don't think deer love smelling bears but they cohabitate like any other prey/predator. The bear presence should put the deer in their best bedding I would imagine. I saw a bear this weekend myself but I'll be moving to the next spot anyway. And you are right...They are everywhere.
