2016 Rut Reports
We have done this in the past and it's nice to have this info in a seperate thread. Fun to watch the rut progress in different areas. We have members across the country so we get some good data.
Log rutting activity you are seeing and what state you are located in. If you could break it down by county that would be even better.

Re: 2016 Rut Reports
Saw a 2.5 year old pushing a doe out in the middle of a field yesterday around 5:30. Will be out in the woods this weekend to see what's going on there.

Re: 2016 Rut Reports
My buck sightings have increased progressively. Not much going on yet. Not many bucks killed on the roads yet. It will really ramp up in the next week. No real good cold snap so it may not be as noticeable.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

Re: 2016 Rut Reports
Central NY it's generally quiet by me as is usual for this time. Yesterday we watched a young spike annoy a doe and her yearlings out of their bed mid-morning but I suppose that is also normal. He probably doesn't even know why he was annoying. Daylight cruising is usually around Nov 2-11 by me we'll see....

Re: 2016 Rut Reports
Buddy of mine saw decent 8 cross road at noon yesterday. Another buddy saw a 6 and 8 ptr. Sparring on side of road at 8 am. Personally I haven't saw much for scrapes and not one rub, but that's probably due to buck population. When it starts heating up more though expect to see sign around my food plots though.

Re: 2016 Rut Reports
Central WI areas. Lots of dead younger bucks by the roads this past week. Been seeing lots of younger buck movement in the evening hours crossing ridge tops. Also spotted does crossing roads in the middle of the day and also evening hours. Does are not entering feeding areas as often as I seen them earlier in the season. Must be getting chased around.
One of my target bucks on highly pressured public land is also moving very early. I was at a funeral that evening. With everyone out hunting cold fronts this buck decides that he will move on the day of a warming front. Smart boy.

Central indiana.
Ramping up here. Bucks chasing does as they head out to feed in the evening. Should get better after next cold front at the end of next week. There is still alot of standing corn. That helps and hurts me, depending on the property

Re: 2016 Rut Reports
Oct. 28th 2016. Just got back from tonight's hunt. Saw one mature 8 pointer, a small 6 and one doe by the side of the road right at dark. Almost got it done tonight setting up on fresh sign but the buck and doe walked by 30 yards too far on the other side of the thicket. They started moving around in the marsh around 5:45p. Today is the start of a warm front. It is a 65 degree high with a jump of 15 degrees from the last two days which were in the high 40s. Bucks are on their feet despite what the experts are saying about warm days shutting off activity.
