**MUST READ**
Okay so I know that this does not pertain to hunting too much but I felt that it was necessary to post this here.
I just wanted to post a thread to give credit and thanks to every single person on this site. Over the past 7 or 8 months or so everyone on here has answered a question I have had or has given great opinions on what to do with different situations. I will be honest, if I had never found THE BEAST I would still be wondering around the woods aimlessly trying to kill deer that aren't even there. We always talk about how this forum is always kind and helpful not matter what. And I agree. I have asked a lot of very simple questions that most people would get annoyed by. But I have always gotten honest and true answers. And honestly in the last 8 months or so I feel much more confident in my hunting abilities. And 90% of it is because of this forum. Even though I don't post in all threads, I read every single blurb and comment in each one. And not one time have I ever seen a negative comment or smart remark. I know I am going over a lot of stuff we have already talked about, but its really comforting knowing that if I come back and ask a question i know that I am not going to be judged or put down. I was a member of 3 other hunting websites and to be honest with you, every time you post a "simple" question you get sarcastic remarks. So I want to thank everyone on here. All of you took part in this memorable moment. And to be honest with you, when I found my deer and I saw him laying there, the first thing I thought of was the beast. I couldnt see the antlers. At first I thought it might have been a doe, but I remember when I walked up on him, and I put my hand on his belly, the first thing I thought was "there is no way this was going to happen without the help and encouragement of everyone on the beast." I cant tell you how many people told me that they new I was going to kill my first deer this year. I didnt think I would after my first two encounters. But everyone kept my head up for me. And honestly in my story I didnt tell you guys what happened prior. When I went to this spot with my buddies they kept telling me that I was not going to kill a deer where I was sitting. There was no "sign" But it just felt right. And I remembered Dan telling me in one of my posts about hunting deer and not the monster buck. He said go in with the mindset of killing a monster and you will most likely see does as well. And thats what I did. This spot was nice and thick. But you could tell that this would be a spot that a lot of deer would travel to get to there beds. There wasn't much sign here because they were not feeding in this area they were just traveling through it to get to bed. I shot at a doe and missed, and this guy walked right in front of me at 17 yards in this spot. And if I was never told what Dan said I wold have looked right past this spot. And if everyone on here didnt teach me the difference between transitions in terrain I would never have seen this one. it would have been easy to look past it.
Also I want to get into how willing everyone is to help. I am going to call out a couple of people. I would like to thank Horizontal Hunter for showing me this site and being so supportive of me since I joined a different forum where I had met him. Then he introduced me to the beast. He is a fantastic local gentleman in the Northeast. Also I would like to call out Mr. Buckley. He was so kind to send me out some milkweed. That stuff works great. Honestly I would not have seen my first two deer this year without it. I just could not capitalize. Also I would like to thank Dan and the moderators here for creating such an amazing forum and community for new hunters and seasoned vets. And last but not least I want to thank everyone else on here for all of your assistance and patience. I love this community. And I do plan on hanging around and eventually give back to others. (still dont think I am on that level yet.)
Also I would like to say thank you for all the congratulations on my first deer/buck. You all are too kind! Thanks for always being there!

Absolutely! This site has helped more guys learn things that would take them a lifetime to learn. It's great seeing how many "thank you" threads like this have been posted over the years...I know I made one shortly after joining the Beast and seeing what a treasure trove of info it was along with the best group of guys on the web - hands down!
No drama here except when someone posts about a kill with no pics and we have to bust out the
Glad to have you here.

Re: **MUST READ**
have to agree with OP, what i have learned on this forum is great. used milkweed last weekend for first time and cant believe what i saw !! forecast was calling for south west wind, which is the direction it was going when it was dead calm, what i wasnt prepared for was what the milkweed showed me when the wind picked up !! it was flowing almost due north on that ridge !! i was amazed, then i started thinking how many other hunts were buggered up right off the bat in these hills on these ridges that i never even knew about... total eye opener
