I do occasionally see this. A lot of it is based off where I'm hunting. The over grown field/ thicket that I hunt a time or two each season, I've had a few times I set up only to look over and see a buck bedding nearby. Never has it been a target animal though. I have set up close enough to see my target animal stand up from the stand. I was foutunate enough to be able to take one of these animals as he was bedding 70/80 yards away. I watched him stand up and come working toward my set up leading to a shot. I don't think I've ever been able to sneak up close enough to see a bedded buck in the timber I hunt. It's just too hard to get that close and plus I don't want to chance getting that close. I like to set up just out of sight/sound from them.

Was that the MicroCool+™ gel bed?
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

One of the hill country sits last year I seen a buck in its bed was just a prime situation. It was windy real windy a lot easier for me to get in . But it was also set to calm down the Last few hours. I honestly set up far enough away so I shouldnt be able to see him but after that hunt the following spring I Checked out the bed. It wasn't heavily used. The rubs he made when he stood up a few times were hard to see. Not primary bed imop. I just think he felt safer higher on the Ridge in a more open spot when it was windy. Several better beds I found not far. I'm guessing 3.5 so either there were bigger bucks in better beds or the wind speed played a role.

I have never had it happen in season, and only a couple times total with whitetail while scouting.
I did manage to sneak within eyesight of several bedded mulies this last July in southern Colorado. 2 of the does I could have shot in their bed.
