Beds are glowing right now

Unread postby Hawthorne » Tue Apr 12, 2016 9:26 am

Whitetails are starting to shed their winter coats. Found many beds today with hair. Most productive day of scouting I've had in 2016. This is just one I found. Image

I found 2 beds on the end of a ridge sloping down to a creek oxbow with rubs. Believed to be a buck bedding point, had lots of hair in it as well

Yeah it helps in sporadic areas. Awesome time to go.

Good work by the way

A bunch of my beds don't have any hair in them. I believe that a lot of these beds start getting used when the pressure is on. I think that the deer in my area are concentrated in areas with the best feed right now.

Same here. Looked at a lot of beds in the past couple weeks, hair in them...but not that much. Winter shifts the deer around a bunch. Observed few different deer on Saturday. Couple of them looked like a husky in may...start to get nasty looking shedding out the winter coat, while others looked sleek, not ratty at all.

These beds were in an area with agriculture fields but far away in the middle of a swamp. I did notice a ton of browsing on red dogwood very near their beds.

Thats another thing that I noticed...EVERY single red dogwood (red brush) patch I have found are missing the buds. So much so...that I keep looking at every bush I see just to try and find A BUD. Deer really feed on them heavy.

Came across a huge doe bedding area in greenbriar a couple of days ago. Almost every bed was loaded with hair. This post is making me rethink exactly what you are saying.....shedding winter coats. Leads me to believe I bumped them out since there was newly shed hair and fresh droppings.
