Talk about a dirty trick

Unread postby Dewey » Tue Feb 02, 2016 8:21 am

Awhile back I was talking with a guy at work discussing the rut. He asked me when the peak times were and I told him it's pretty much every year the first week of November. I thought it was an innocent discussion between two hunters so didn't think anything about it and was honest with him.

Fast forward to last week when we had to schedule our vacation for the year. I got mine back and everything was approved except the first week of November. The guy put in for it and bumped me due to seniority. Everybody including that guy knows I live for that week so everyone allows me that time off. Haven't missed it in 20 years. Apparently that guy doesn't care. He's not even a serious hunter and that is the part that rubs me the wrong way the most.

Sorry for venting but I am just absolutely crushed right now. Likely drawing an Iowa tag this year makes it hurt even more. :angry-banghead:

I would just talk to your boss, I don't know what kinda guy would do that to you. Not someone I'd likely talk to again...

That sucks. I have one other guy I work with that hunts. Luckily me and him are the only hunters out of about 50 employee's and they only give 3 employees vacations per week.Me and him take the same weeks off every year. Like someone said maybe talk with your boss

There are rational and irrational solutions to your problem and I am feeling like listing the irrational ones at the moment, so I will refrain...

What kind of person does that!?! I would not be offering any more help to that jerk.

You'll just have to get your buck early and make him jealous...

Some people I talk to like the rut in IOWA later than that. I'm just throwing it out there for positive side.

He may not have realized it would screw your plans up...not that that would have changed his decision of not.

I'm glad my job isn't like that. Our vacation requests are first come first serve. I put my hunting vacation in way early just for that reason. That stinks Dewey. Hopefully you can resolve it.
