Some guys seem to get way to scientific with their set up and Im over here getting pass through shots everytime with a 400 grain arrow with a cheap broadhead screwed in at the end of it, and with a 55 lb draw weight. I get my bow paper-tuned every other year, I think thats the kicker right there. I don't know.
You are right about tuned arrows. When I started out shooting bows as a teenager, I used 2219s with 125 grain 3 fixed blade heads...about 550 grain total arrow weight, 70 lb draw on a soft cam compound. I still wouldn't get many pass thrus even with more momentum than I shoot now! Mostly it was because I didn't tune my bow very well, and also my form wasn't great being full of buck fever and punching every shot. That's huge. Don't feel like you need to get all technical to succeed. Its not necessary - you know the fundamentals and that's plenty to kill any deer you shoot at.

So if you are already shooting borderline weak spine, you will be underspined if you add weight up front. When I buy arrows I always go with stiffer spine than the charts suggest because it's pretty tough to be to heavily spined to tune/shoot well. Plus that gives you room to play with your foc if you want.
Yea good point that is exactly what I do too. I bump my spine up 1 stiffness shooting a 150 grain head.
