The way I understood that was 280 with guts in or live weight. I don't think that's super uncommon but I havent weighed them with guts much at all. I seen a calculator of multipling by 1.33 that would make any buck over 210 fit that category if calculator is accurate.

I've never seen a 200incher but I've seen dozens or more of 210lbs dressed plus

A tidbit of trivia:

Who has an average dress weight of around 240 lbs. for his entire hunting career?

Big freaks exist, but rare. Just like 800 lb humans exist.

Lane was like 228
And
Shane was around 215-219 I forget exact weights...

In the original post I'm asking what you consider to be a big buck, regarding field dressed weight. Is a 170 lb buck "big"? 200?

180 is big to me. Anything over 200 is a Hoss.

I've killed 4 weighed on scales over 200#. I believe 215 was the heaviest but not 100% positive on that figure. I don't weigh most of them however, unless it's convinient. I don't own a scale myself.

My numbers exactly.

Btw... For all of you posting live weight numbers, I'm not poking fun but why would you ever bring a buck near a scale with guts in it? I'd still gut my buck even if he died next to my truck. But that's just me LOL

In wolf country we tried to never gut in the woods on private but that was private. Otherwise I always gut in woods

Makes perfect sense. But other than wanting to know the live weight itself, why would you bring a buck with guts intact to your garage/locker, weigh it, then take it back down again, go gut it, bring it back inside then hang it back up? Idk maybe I'm missing something? Around here if you mentioned live weight, the first thing people will ask you is what it dressed.

Buck 213, 217 and 222 lbs, doe 178-183(weighed on two separate scales) all field dressed weights. The buck I killed in Ohio this year was considerably larger body wise than I have killed before but didn't weight him. The 3 deer I have shot that I know we're over 200 dressed were long bodied and long legged. The shorter blocky looking bucks I've killed look like they should weigh a lot but end up on the 170-190 range. The big doe was also a very long deer, I've never shot or seen another within 30 or 40 pounds of her.
