I picked home turf, I do understand it depends where you call home and how well you know your hunting spots.

I know my home turf very well. That's why I picked out of state.
A buck will see you three times, and hear you twice, but he's only gonna smell you once.

I picked out of state. A125" buck in my area is a buck of a life time for most hunters. I've only shot two in Michigan with a bow and im hunting what is considered one of the best counties in the state.

If I had five years to hunt Wisc/Iowa/Kansas/Nebra/Kentucky/Missouri/Indiana/illiniois or 5 years hunting Michigan, I like to think my PY count would be higher. This next season will really show me a lot. But the reason I finally broke down and said I'm going out of state is because of the low percentages in my home state.

I have no doubt whatsoever that you would fill up a wall quickly in some of those states. ANYONE that tags the bucks you have on public ground in Michigan would NOT have a problem killing huge deer in those states if you lived there and could scout year round.

Re: Where Are Your Best Odds?
In 4 days in Missouri I saw 3-4 bucks from stand pushing 130... I've never seen 1 in that league in person in hundreds of hours in the woods on my home turf so that's an easy one lol

Out of state. I was once a 4 year resident of SD. I consider those 4 years to be the best of my life. Since the glory days I have since married and moved back to western MN. *sigh

Re: Where Are Your Best Odds?
Haven't hunted enough out of state to say. Illinois was tough in the southern part I hunted. That public recieved a lot more pressure than I expected going in as deep as I did but the use of 4 wheelers (illegal) made it easier for others. I would have to say home turf. I know a lot of the public within a couple hours of where I live pretty well. More out of state hunts are on my agenda for sure tho.

Even though I have not spent a great amount of time hunting out of state, I am still going to say, out of state.

Re: Where Are Your Best Odds?
Hard question for me... I do pretty good on traveling hunts to better destinations. But I kill more bucks at home because even though the hunting is better on travel trips I know my home area well and spend more time there hunting.
I chose home...
I chose home...
