My guess is genetic hairlessness. We've had a few calves born that way over the years. They get sunburned really bad, so I'm surprised that deer lived that long.

Yea there is some skin condition that causes hair loss....mange or related to mange?

Regardless, I might run away crying like a little girl if I came face to face with one of those :lol:

Typically, the mange seen in dogs is accompanied by crusty, festering sores. The skin on this deer looks smooth and soft- not that I'd want to touch it though!

May likely be Alopecia areata. Affects the hair follicles but nothing fatal.

One of our members, who has not been on in a long time but is still friends with me on face book shot a bald doe down in Missouri. They are pretty rare, but real.

Not sure how a hairless deer would survive a winter in PA. It's cold enough there, used to fish that state quite a bit.
