My 2010 buck season thus far...

Unread postby virginiashadow » Sat Nov 13, 2010 11:58 am

I CANNOT get a good buck within range. hahaha! I have passed shots on at least 10, 1.5 year old bucks and 5, 2.5 year old bucks on public land. I just cannot bring myself to kill even a 2.5 year old because around here they do not even break 80-90 inches. I had a 2.5 year old at 5 yards today but could not drop the string on him. :( I just couldn't do it. I have a goal and that is a 3.5 year old buck or better.

At least 80% of my hunts I have gotten deer within bow range. My set-ups have never been better thanks to many people and THIS website. I cannot remember anytime in the past where I have gotten deer within bow range 80% of my sits. I literally can grab a topo map and set up blind in the morning or afternoon and get deer within range. It is friggin crazy that I have progressed this far within the last few years inparticularly. THANKS guys. I am going to keep at it hunting as much as I can even though my hunting time will be limited starting Monday. I am not giving up until the fat lady sings!

just keep after it, i would think that from all the deer you've been seeing a 3.5yo is bound to walk through at some point:-)

I know what you mean. So far I have had more small bucks in range that I passed on than I can ever remember. The four shooters I had between 125"-150" within 25 yards but could not get a decent shot on any of them. Keep at it and stay positive because it's just a matter of time before you connect.
