Hunt up high with 25 mph winds?

Unread postby BigHills BuckHunter » Thu Nov 12, 2015 8:37 pm

Today we are supposed to get winds up to 25 mph out of NW. I want to sit a leeward side but wonder if that's too much wind and will push cruising bucks low?

I'm going to stay high on the leeward side. I don't know if that's the right move but I think the hills/ridges will block the force of the wind for deer that are 30-40 yards down from the top. Unfortunately not the same for the guy swaying in the trees above. Hope you have sea legs!

I haven't done much bow hunting in high winds...but I know when we are doing small drives when its windy...especially if its wet/cold the deer seem to hole up somewhere low or a side hill that is completely out of the wind...we've walked for hours never seeing a deer till we find THAT spot...then all the sudden deer are going everywhere...

I like to push in heavy cover with these winds.

Wet and windy. Today is a day to get super aggressive.
