Buck Down!

Unread postby Basinboy » Fri Nov 12, 2010 2:20 pm

Its been a long week here in Kansas. Not seeing any good bucks with the warm weather. A cold front came through last night with temps dropping to 32 degrees. Winds for this evening were ESE to ENE. I only had one stand hung for east winds. I had hunted it twice already seeing two yearlings the first hunt and a little buck the second hunt. I got settled in about 2:45pm. At about an hour before dark I look to my left and see a good buck walking along the creek bank. I stood up and grabbed my bow only to see him bed down at 40 yards. I grunted to him but he never got up. I watched him for 15 minutes then I bleated with my Primos can and he looked my way. I bleated again and he got up! Only problem is he didn't come to me he angled out in the thick stuff where I had no shot. Once again I bleated and he turned and headed towards me. When he got in the first hole I drew and he stopped. I settled the pin behind his shoulder and touched the trigger on my release and watched the arrow fly perfectly! He ran a semi circle and crashed about 80 yards away!
10 scoreable points!
